WHAT DOES "PHARMACIST-FORMULATED" MEAN?

 

It means I bring pharmaceutical-level care to cosmetic formulation:

• Rigorous ingredient research

• Understanding of how compounds interact

• Attention to safety and quality

• Evidence-based ingredient selection

 

These are cosmetic products designed to moisturize and beautify - not medical treatments. But they're formulated with the same care I’d use for anything pharmaceutical.

Remedé and Root was created out of frustration—and a pharmacist’s refusal to settle.

As someone living with seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, dry skin, and hyperpigmentation, I spent years searching for products that would actually work. What I found instead was a skincare industry full of empty promises: trendy ingredients with no real science behind them, “natural” products that irritated my sensitive skin, and clinical treatments so harsh they created new problems.

So I did what pharmacists do best: I went back to the fundamentals.
 

The Pharmacist Behind the Formulas

I’m Takiyah, a licensed pharmacist and the founder of Remedé and Root. I graduated from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University College of Pharmacy in 2015, and I’ve spent nearly a decade counseling patients on medications, analyzing ingredient interactions, and understanding how compounds affect the body.

After years in retail pharmacy, I now work as an appeals pharmacist from home—which means I spend my days reviewing medication denials, researching clinical evidence, and advocating for treatments that actually work. That same analytical approach is what I bring to every product I create.

 Why I Started Remedé and Root

When your skin is as reactive as mine, you can’t afford to guess. Every new product is a gamble—will this soothe my flare-up or make it worse? Will this fade my hyperpigmentation or trigger more inflammation?

I got tired of gambling.

I started formulating my own body care using the same analytical rigor I apply to pharmaceutical work: researching each ingredient’s properties, understanding how oils absorb into skin, balancing ratios for optimal feel and performance, and eliminating anything that didn’t serve a clear purpose.

The result? Products that felt good on my sensitive skin. Products I enjoyed using daily. Products my friends started asking to try.

That’s how Remedé and Root was born.

More ingredients don’t mean better results—they often mean more opportunities for irritation. We use minimal, purposeful formulations that let each ingredient do its job.

My skin conditions aren’t just inspiration—they’re my daily reality. Before any product reaches you, it’s been tested on my own sensitive, reactive skin during real-world use. If it doesn’t feel good and work well for me, it doesn’t make it into our line.

Every blend is handcrafted in small batches with premium botanical oils and ingredients I’d feel confident recommending to a pharmacy patient. Because at the end of the day, that’s still what I am: a healthcare provider who believes you deserve skincare that’s both safe and effective.
